Hello Jampa-L!

Aqui estou eu novamente com mensagens imensas, querendo
aparecer! So' penso em voces!
Ha' alguns dias atras, andei bisbilhotando o 'site' ftp.uwp.edu.
Esse endereco para muitos nao deve dizer nada. Para mim, ele e' muito
interessante e bisbilhoto-o quase todo ano. Ele contem uma enorme
quantidade de temas relacionados `a musica, seja ela popular ou nao.
Gosto muito de pegar de la' letras de musicas de artistas estrangei-
ros. As gravadoras daqui costumam economizar encartes nos CDs. Tem
cada encarte vagabundo! A gente `as vezes fica anos so' ouvindo a
musica sem ter a letra.
Estou enviando em anexo outra mensagem formada so' por algumas
musicas que peguei de la' recentemente. Voces devem conhecer no
minimo 90% delas.
O subdiretorio /pub/music/lyrics contem um indice dos titulos
(chamado Index) que tambem aparece em forma compactada sob o nome de
Index.songs.Z (577 Kbytes). Ha' tambem um gigantesco arquivo chamado
index.all (16,6 Mega bytes) - nunca tive coragem de tentar olhar esse
gigantao.
Entre outros arquivos, o subdiretorio /pub/music/lyrics contem
varios subdiretorios cujos nomes sao formados somente por uma letra
de 'a' a 'z'. Cada subdiretorio desses, por sua vez, contem varios
subdiretorios formados pelos nomes de artistas. Por exemplo,
/pub/music/lyrics/m/marley.bob
/pub/music/lyrics/m/mccartney.paul
/pub/music/lyrics/d/denver.john
/pub/music/lyrics/d/dire.straits
/pub/music/lyrics/d/dylan.bob
Cada subdiretorio formado por uma letra de 'a' a 'z' contem um
indice dos artistas cujos nomes comecam com a referida letra: Index.d
em /pub/music/lyrics/d, Index.m em /pub/music/lyrics/m, etc.
Nao tem so' letra de musica americana ou inglesa em ftp.uwp.edu.
Tem algumas musicas brasileiras (Raul Seixas e algumas outras poucas)
e muitas musicas em alemao, espanhol ou italiano, entre outras.

BITFTP
======
Como as conexoes por aqui nao andam la' com essa rapidez toda,
eu ainda uso algo que usava desde 1990 para pegar arquivos por
esse mundo a fora. Trata-se do servico de FTP-via-mail. Ao inves de
fazer um FTP 'on line', voce pode pedir a algum computador que faca a
gentileza de pegar o arquivo para voce e depois enviar via e-mail. Se
o arquivo for grande, ele vira' fragmentado. Arquivos binarios vem
nos formatos 'uuencode' ou 'xxencode'. Nos E.U.A. eu uso o
BITFTP@PUCC.PRINCETON.EDU e para pegar arquivos da Europa eu uso um
Bitftp da Alemanha: BITFTP@DEARN.BITNET. Como os computadores daqui
parecem nao gostar muito desse '.BITNET' do endereco, entao eu
engano eles e complico um pouco o endereco:
BITFTP%DEARN.BITNET@PUCC.PRINCETON.EDU.
Existem muitos outros Bitftp, Ftpmail, etc. espalhados por esse
mundo, mas so' lembro de usar sempre estes dois que mencionei.
O uso do BITFTP e' simples: voce envia uma mensagem para ele
formada pelas linhas de comandos que voce digitaria se fosse usar o
FTP normalmente. Veja 2 exemplos a seguir do uso de Bitftp. Para
informacoes mais detalhadas, envie uma mensagem formada somente com
uma linha com a palavra "help" (sem aspas, evidentemente) para eles.

Esta breve mensagem enviada para BITFTP, tem como resposta os
arquivos /pub/music/lyrics/Index e /pub/music/lyrics/WANTED. O
arquivo Index tem aprox. 1 Mega de tamanho e o WANTED, 42 Kbytes.
Cuidado para nao trocar letras maiusculas por minusculas, ou
vice-versa.
