Subject: [Internet-PB] Listas americanas
Ola', pessoal!
Esta mensagem e' composta de duas partes: na primeira parte sao
mencionadas algumas listas de discussao e os enderecos dos seus
respectivos servidores. Na segunda parte eu acrescentei algumas
"amostras gratis" dessas listas, ou seja, uma mensagem que tem
circulado ultimamente em cada uma das listas mencionadas.
A inscricao em cada lista dessas e' feita de forma usual: basta
enviar uma linha de comando do tipo
subscribe NOME_DA_LISTA SEU_NOME_COMPLETO
para o endereco do servidor da lista. Em muitos casos, voce re-
cebera' uma mensagem pedindo confirmacao da inscricao. Ai', bas-
ta dar um 'reply' na mensagem recebida colocando um "ok" na pri-
meira linha do 'reply'.
Todas as listas mencionadas podem ser assinadas em formato
'digest', ou seja, voce nao recebe mensagens isoladas e sim um
pacote de mensagens de cada vez. Para ajustar esse tipo de for-
mato, basta enviar para o servidor da lista (apo's a sua inscri-
cao) uma linha de comando do tipo:
set NOME_DA_LISTA digest
A seguir, uma relacao de 5 listas que conheco ja' ha' algum tem-

anunciadas muitas novidades da grande rede. Tem uma pagina propria
interessante que merece ser visitada em: http://www.gi.net/NET/

Os assuntos das mensagens sao classificados por palavras-chave: BOOK,
CONF, CONF-NA, CORRECT, EMAG, EJOUR, GOV, LISTS, K12, MISC, NEWSLTR,
RESOUR, SOFT, WORKSHP, UPDATED.
Tambem e' distribuida em forma de newsgroup:
comp.internet.net-happenings
( Tem uma lista na Turquia muito parecida com a Net-Happenings cha-
mada BestWeb cujo servidor e': LISTSERV@VM.EGE.EDU.TR )
(2.) ACCMAIL

Lista dedicada `as discussoes a respeito do acesso `a Internet
usando o e-mail como unico recurso. E' o lugar ideal para se
conversar sobre Ftpmail, Webmail e tudo o que for acessivel via
e-mail.
(3.) HELP-NET

Servidor: LISTSERV@LISTSERV.TEMPLE.EDU
Lista intitulada "Internet Help Resource", e' a que mais se parece
com a nossa Internet-PB ou com outras listas brasileiras sobre
Internet, como por exemplo a Internet-L@Elogica.com.br ou a
Internet@Pegasus.com.br. E' uma lista aberta (nao moderada) onde
circula muita pergunta primaria e tambem muita informacao inte-
ressante. Atualmente, o que predomina nela sao as mensagens dos
asiaticos recem-ingressados na rede (chineses, indianos, arabes,
etc.)
(4.) MS-NEWS

Lista onde sao anunciados os novos programas que chegam diariamente ao
antiquissimo SimTel (uma abreviacao de "Simulations and Telecommunica-

IconForge, which also has editions for Win 3.1x, creates and modifies
icons or cursors for your Windows desktop, as well as for other graphic
projects, such as producing tiles for wallpaper backgrounds. IconForge
contains a full set of painting tools, including text, polygon, brush,
line, multi-level zoom, circles, rectangles, area selector, flood fill,
color replacement fill, nudge, flip, etc. The editor allows you to use
paint with transparent and inverse color. The utility can extract icons
from EXE, DLL ICO, ANI or CUR format files (including OS/2 icon files),
as well as from most common image files. You can screen capture to grab
an icon or image. You may clip a region from imported images, or scale
them to fit the standard icon/cursor sizes. Edited icons may be saved in
icon/cursor formats or exported to commonly used bitmap image formats
(such as BMP, JPEG, PCX or TIFF). IconForge also allows you to produce
and edit animated icons and animated cursors. You may set delay times
for the frames, preview the animation, set frame-by-frame hot-spots,
duplicate frames, add or delete frames, etc. Individual frames may be
easily edited in a separate window (complete with its own zoom
controls). And since IconForge can display several editing sessions at
the same time, it's a snap to cut/paste material between cursors, icons
and animations.

You should use ftpmail servers to retrieve ftp files. For example, to
retrieve some handy utilities for handling MIME and BASE-64 decoding,
send email to:
bitftp@pucc.princeton.edu
In the body of the message, add these lines:
open ftp.coast.net
cd /coast/msdos/decode
get mime64d.zip
get mpack15d.zip
quit
